Red Deer & Community Sun Run

The Red Deer & Community Sun Run is more than a race, it’s a celebration of community, connection, and support for children and families in Central Alberta. Whether you’re a seasoned runner chasing a personal best, a teen stepping up with friends, a family making memories together, or a local business championing community impact, there’s a place for you at the starting line. 

Choose your distance – 5 km, 3 km, or 1 km, and set your pace. Our new Teen Run categories invite youth across the region to challenge themselves and lead by example. Little ones can join the joyful Bubble Runs, and everyone can enjoy a lively BBQ and activities that bring our community together. 

Why This Matters 

This event has long reflected the heart of our community, thanks to Val Jensen, who organized and ran the Sun Run for years. With generosity and care, Val has now passed the event to Aspire, ensuring it continues to bring people together, now in direct support of children and families accessing vital programs and services. 

Her legacy lives on in every step taken, every child supported, and every neighbour who shows up. By registering for the Sun Run, you’re not only participating in a race, but you’re also honouring community leadership and helping ensure children of all abilities have the support they need to thrive.
